Brisbane’s newest bridge, The Kurilpa Bridge, has been successfully completed and is the world’s first tensegrity pedestrian bridge.

With a project value over $2.2 million, Stowe Australia undertook the Electrical and Communication services on the bridge, investing over 10,000 man hours to complete the project for Baulderstone QLD. The project was finished on time and within budget, adding to the impressive number of projects by Stowe

Michael Knowles, Stowe Business Development Manager s said: ‘The outcomes achieved on Kurilpa Bridge are very satisfying given the nature of a world first construction method used with all complexities of the structure and how our works had to be designed in to achieve a seem less approach to the kilometers of electrical and communication cabling hidden into the bridge. The project team had to think outside of the square when it came to this project.’

Today Stowe is Australia’s leading privately owned electrical and communications contracting organisation with annual revenues in excess of $340 million and 1,400 direct employees.

Knowles said, “We have been operating for nearly 100 years with next year being our centenary. Our business has built on a simple principle of building and maintaining a satisfied customer base through superior quality service and fair dealings, based on trust and respect.”

“Our aim is to create long term relationships with customers, suppliers and most importantly its employees.”

The Kurilpa Bridge project will be submitted in next years NECA (National Electrical Communications Association) awards and hopefully will add to Stowes’ current 2009 national awards including the Queensland Tennis Centre (Commercial), Maroochydore Police Headquarters (Voice/Data) and Sunstate Cement (Industrial).

Whilst these major ‘high profile’ projects such as Kurilpa are always satisfying, it is only part of what makes Stowe Australia successful. They also provide many other services such as engineering, drafting, client services / maintenance, commercial, industrial, infrastructure, power protection, renewable energy and voice / data communications.
