Certain Software, the developers of eventspro event management software, continues to support students studying event management in Australia and New Zealand to ensure the next generation of event managers have real-life technology experience to take into the workforce. Despite the tough economic times, Certain Software has committed funding to its annual Rising Star Program throughout 2009, including cash scholarships and the prestigious end-of-year Award for Excellence. This education initiative has been running for three years. Applications for the scholarships, each valued at $3,000, closed in May with over 45 students applying from 12 tertiary education providers. Trevor Gardiner, Certain Software’s Chief Operations Officer, said, “This tough economic trough we are experiencing has seen the industry shed staff and tighten cost control measures to deliver more with less. With technology solutions continuing to deliver crucial time and labour savings, students graduating with these skills will be a boon to the industry as we move back to a positive economy. We are very pleased to be able to financially assist some of these students.” At the beginning of 2009, Certain Software released its eventspro Version 11 courseware to colleges and universities teaching the software. The courseware consists of 20 comprehensive training modules and teaching aids. Students successfully completing their technology course component receive industry accreditation from Certain Software.
