Brisbane Technology Park
Local medical device pioneer expands global service offering

COOK Medical, the largest private medical device company in the world, recently opened a new $21 million headquarters in Brisbane, creating new jobs locally and expanding its ability to deliver innovative minimally invasive medical procedure technology to the global market.

The new state-of-the-art facilities will specifically manufacture implantable endovascular stent grafts, which were developed in collaboration with the Royal Perth Hospital. Endovascular grafts help repair an aorta that has developed an aneurysm. This saves the patient from undergoing a traumatic surgical procedure.

Commenting on the opening of the new facility, Gus Taddeo, Managing Director, Cook Medical Australia said, “This investment is not only significant for the local community as it demonstrates the incredible value of Australian innovation and expertise on a global scale. These world-class medical technologies are designed and produced here in Australia and exported throughout the world to improve the lives of patients worldwide.”

The expansion from the previous offices in the Brisbane Technology Park, where Cook Medical resided for over 20 years, will allow Cook to continue to research and develop products in Queensland which are currently exported to over 40 countries worldwide.

The opening was attended by Carl Cook, Vice President Cook Group & several senior Cook executives including, Kem Hawkins, President Cook Group.

Cook Medical was one of the first companies to help popularise interventional medicine, pioneering many of the devices now commonly used worldwide to perform minimally invasive medical procedures.
